Sooo, there's a shit load of art contests going around in and outside of my school right now, and I'm really eager to enter some of them. There's about a total of four that I reallly want to compete in, one of them being the Dream Wacom Contest that's going on on Deviant Art. I've already got some pretty solid ideas in my noggin about what I want do for it, I just need to take some photos and get to work on it. There's this other contest, Vase, which is a pretty big deal for all the art students at my school. Every year kids submit one or two pieces of abso-fucking-lutely amazing art work and judges get to judge their work and give them feedback and awards. It's pretty intimidating and exciting.
I really want this school year to be different than last year. I want to strengthen my Photoshop and Illustrator skills and get a hell of lot better than I am right now, and I think that competing in contests and working my ass off on them will really help with that. It doesn't really matter whether or not I win any of the contests -though God knows I'd be happier than I've even been if I do win- it's just more so about the experience and working up to a deadline and making a piece of art that I'm happy to claim as my own. Plus, it'd be a cool thing to put on my college application or my resume Well, since Thanksgiving Break is only in a couple of days, I'll be able to work on some of my submissions a lot more than I could during school.
